Madison, Kenosha, and Lakeshore all picked up wins in the Northwoods League South Division on Wednesday night.
Games on Tuesday, July 12:
Kenosha 5, Kalamazoo 4 (10 Innings)
The Kenosha Kingfish needed ten innings to defeat the Kalamazoo Growlers 5-4. Jesse Wilkening (Nebraska) scored on a sac fly for the eventual game winner.
3-4 Second Half (2 GB), 25-17 Overall, 2.5 games ahead in Wild Card standings
Lakeshore 10, Wisconsin 2
The Lakeshore Chinooks defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 10-2 after only allowing a pair of runs in the ninth. The Chinooks scored twice in the bottom of the first when Nick Gatewood (Georgia State) hit an RBI double and he scored from an RBI single by Rylan Thomas (Central Florida). Lakeshore put up another two-spot in the second from an RBI single and an error by the shortstop. Jack Dunn (Northwestern) then started another two-run inning for Lakeshore in the fourth with an RBI double and scored on a sac fly. The Chinooks scored a single run in the seventh when a run scored on a dropped third strike. The Chinooks got three more in the eighth when Joe Duncan (Eastern Illinois) went yard. Lakeshore has now won three games in a row.
5-3 Second Half (0.5 GB), 23-20 Overall, Tied with Madison for final Wild Card spot
Madison 7, Green Bay 5
The Madison Mallards fought all night with the Green Bay Bullfrogs and pulled ahead to win 7-5. The Mallards took advantage of walks in the fifth as they sent four home to take the lead. Madison has now won three games in a row.
4-4 Second Half (2.5 GB), 23-20 Overall, Tied with Lakeshore for final Wild Card spot
Waterloo 6, Eau Claire 5
The Waterloo Bucks held off a late rally from the Eau Claire Express as they won 6-5. The Express got one run in the bottom of the ninth, but the next two batters flew out to end the game.
