Coach of the Year: Brad Murphy, West: Murphy, in his second year with the Regents, improved upon last year's 5-5 finish, currently sitting at 8-2 heading into their Friday night playoff game with Middleton. (13-7 career record, 1-1 playoffs)
Outstanding Back: Jaden Stephens, West (SR): An honorable mention all-conference pick a season ago, Stephens powers the Regents' ground assault, rushing for 886 yards through ten games and nine touchdowns.
Outstanding Lineman: Alex Okelue, West (SR): Offensively, Okelue leads a run-heavy blocking unit from the key right tackle spot. Defensively, Okelue is in the rotation on the defensive line, currently eighth on the team in tackles with three sacks and a forced fumble.
Quarterback: Keishawn Shanklin, West (SR): Shanklin was a first-team all-Big 8 quarterback a season ago. This year, he's passed for 735 yards, run for another 455 yards, and has accounted for nine passing touchdowns, four rushing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown... Jack McNeil, Edgewood (SR): McNeil wasn't a quarterback until this season, but his big arm was impossible to ignore as a spectator. McNeil threw for 823 yards, and added touchdowns on the ground and as a receiver as well as a sterling 7:1 touchdown:interception ratio.
Running Back: Jacob Hendrix, La Follette (SR): Hendrix led the Lancers in rushing, and become a much more important piece of the offense after the team lost its top two quarterbacks... Jaden Stephens, Madison West (SR): See above (Outstanding Back).
Receivers: Thomas Hartlieb, Edgewood (SR): Hartlieb missed a good portion of the season with an injury, but upon his return, he helped Edgewood close out the season on a strong note, becoming the featured receiver and racked up 464 yards and three scores in only four games... Elliott Grays, Memorial (SR): Grays led the Spartans in every receiving category, and additionally sports one of the highest GPAs on the team... Anthony West, La Follette (SR): West ended up quarterbacking the team down the stretch after the Lancers' top two options went down. West displayed his ability to score from anywhere, throwing, running, and receiving touchdowns this season, in addition to his play on defense. West similarly filled in at multiple positions last season.
Tight End: Mike Cerniglia, Jr., Memorial (JR): Cerniglia Jr. led the Spartans in receptions along with Elliott Grays with 23, and served as an outlet for Memorial's eventual starting quarterback, Jason Ceniti, a sophomore.
Offensive Linemen: C Jacob Paquin, East (SR), C Will Foht*, Edgewood (SR), LT Andre Dyslin*, La Follette (SR), Ross Mathews, Memorial (SR), RT Alex Okelue, West (SR), C Patrick Horvath*, West (JR) ... *denotes all-conference honoree in 2016 ... Mathews (Memorial) did not start until after Week 3.
Defensive Linemen: Nicolas Perez, East (SR): Perez finished with three sacks and a forced fubmle... Mark Luebke, Edgewood (SR): In addition to playing left tackle on offense, Luebke anchored the defensive end spot for the Crusaders... Javon Enochs, West (SR): Enochs is fourth on the team in tackles heading into their Level 2 playoff game, and also has six tackles for a loss and one fumble recovery, forced fumble, and sack... Armoni Warfield, West (SR): Warfield is third on the team in tackles, and has four tackles for a loss and two sacks as well. He was an all-conference pick last year.
Linebackers: Charles Dean, Jr., East (JR): Dean, Jr. led the team in tackles (in the data available to us)... Kalevi Breckterfield, Edgewood (SR): Breckterfield earned all-conference nods last year and led the Crusaders' defense in tackles... Gavin Parr, La Follette (SR): The Lancers' leading tackler, he also notched numbers in several other defensive categories, including four tackles for a loss... Kayvion James-Ragland, La Follette (SR): Second on the team in tackles, James-Ragland also had a pick six and a fumble recovery this year... Ty Mathews, Memorial (SR): Mathews was a returning starter for the Spartans, and helped manned one of the best position groups on the city... Jeremiah Jordan, Memorial (JR): Jordan is highly-regarded and made plays in virtually every game; he was an all-conference pick as a sophomore... David Maravilla, West (SR): Maravilla has 135 tackles, 10 for a loss, and two forced fumbles to pace the Regents. He was an all-conference pick last year.
Defensive Backs: Nate Seward, La Follette (SR): Seward had been leading the team in pass break-ups but got his first interception of the season in the regular-season finale at Sun Prairie... Jason Cenitii, Memorial (SO): Ceniti started the year as a defensive end, getting into the backfield on several occasions, before moving into the defensive backfield as the season progressed.
Kicker: Kacper Lupe, West (SR): Perfect on field goals (6-6) and only missed one extra point, his kickoffs regularly boom through the end zone.
