WIAC vs Wisconsin Exhibition Series Enters 14th Season

For the 14th consecutive year, basketball teams from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) will compete in exhibition games against the University of Wisconsin.

In the men’s game, UW-Stout will square off against the Badgers at the Kohl Center on Nov. 5. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and the contest will be a Cancer Awareness Game - Garding Against Cancer. The series against the Badgers began in 2004 when UW-Platteville made the trip to Madison. The Pioneers were followed in the rotation by: UW-River Falls (2005); UW-Stout (2006); UW-Eau Claire (2007); UW-Whitewater (2008); UW-Superior (2009); UW-La Crosse (2010); UW-Stevens Point (2011); UW-Oshkosh (2012); UW-Platteville (2013); UW-River Falls (2015); and UW-Platteville (2016). A game was not played in 2014.

In the women’s contest, UW-Platteville will make the trip to the Kohl Center for the second time in program history on Nov. 8 for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff. The sequence of games was started in 2005 by UW-Platteville’s visit. The Pioneers were followed by: UW-Stevens Point (2006); UW-Stout (2007); UW-River Falls (2008); UW-Oshkosh (2009); UW-Superior (2010); UW-Whitewater (2011); UW-La Crosse (2012); UW-Stevens Point (2013); UW-River Falls (2014); UW-Eau Claire (2015); and UW-Stout (2016).

“These games provide the WIAC with a great opportunity to showcase the competitiveness of the most accomplished Division III conference in NCAA history,” commented WIAC Commissioner Gary Karner. “I know Coach Gard and Coach Tsipis appreciate the relentless effort put forth by our players in these games as they prepare their respective teams for the rigors of the upcoming season.”
