WFSCA/WSN Coaches Poll: May 15

With the WIAA Playoffs beginning next week, here's a look at Madison-area teams ranked in the top ten of this week's WFSCA/WSN State Softball Coaches Poll.

Division 1: Sun Prairie stayed at #3 this week, still undefeated at 20-0. DeForest and Verona exited the polls, both previously receiving honorable mention, two weeks ago.

Division 2: Beloit Turner, at 17-0, is #1 in D2 again this week. Badger South leader Monroe is 19-1 and stays at #3. Another Rock Valley team, McFarland, is up one spot to #9 with a 14-3 record. Portage enters the top ten at #10 with a 14-4 record after receiving votes last week and being unranked two weeks ago.

Division 3: Poynette (16-1) remains #1 this week for the second straight poll. Dodgeville moves up one spot to #7 with a 12-1 record after receiving honorable mention two weeks ago. Marshall, #1 two weeks ago, is #9 this week at 10-4 after a #10 showing last week. River Valley (10-4) falls out of the poll into the honorable mention category. Columbus was #10 two weeks ago, out of the poll last week, but back in for this one at 8-4 in the honorable mention category. Lake Mills, which placed in honorable mention two weeks ago, is still on the outside looking in to the poll.

Division 4: Defending champ and #3 Juda/Albany (15-2) stays at #3 this week behind a pair of undefeated teams. Johnson Creek at 16-2 also remains in place at #7. #9 Parkview (13-2) and #10 Wisconsin Heights (6-1) also remained in place in this week's poll. In the honorable mention ranks is Mineral Point (11-4), while Boscobel slid out of this week's poll.

Division 5: Highland goes from honorable mention to #8 to #4 in the span of three polls, checking in at 13-4 so far this season. Former #1 Belmont dropped again to #5 after being #4 last week at 17-5. Oakfield bumps up to #6 from #7 (16-3), and was unranked two weeks ago. Barneveld was in the polls in the preseason, was unranked for this month's polls, and moves back in at #9 this week with an 11-5 record. #10 Seneca remains in place at 12-2. Last week's #5 Ithaca suffered their first two losses of the season and dropped from #5 to honorable mention at 8-2. Last week's #9 Southwestern went 1-2 last week and fell to honorable mention as well. Black Hawk remains in the honorable mention category at 9-5. Potosi has fallen from #8 two weeks ago to out of the polls entirely.
