WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament Recap

The second day of the 2018 State Boys Golf Championships produced three team champions and three individual medalists Tuesday at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis.

Last year's Division 1 runner-up Marquette won the State team title with a five-player, 18-hole score of 598. Arrowhead, last year’s champion, finished second with a score of 606. Piercen Hunt of Arrowhead was the Division 1 individual champion. He defeated Adam Garski of Wauwatosa East/West in a two-hole playoff. They both scored a 2-under-par 142 on 36 holes.

Edgewood won its second consecutive Division 2 team championship with a five-player score of 605. Edgerton finished runner-up, 39 strokes back with a 644. Lukas Heckmann of Lakeside Lutheran earned medalist honors in Division 2 after placing fifth last season. He shot a 3-over-par 147 on 36 holes. Drew Arndt of Edgewood finished three strokes behind Heckmann with a 150.

St. Mary's Springs won the Division 3 title for the four straight season, finishing with a five-player score of 642. Abundant Life Christian/Madison Country Day placed second with a 692. Tyler Leach of Spring Valley was the medalist after tying for third place a year ago. He shot a 6-over-par 150 on 36 holes. Doyle Kelly of St. Mary’s Springs, who was the leader following the first day, finished second with a score of 151.
