Waunakee won twice Tuesday to advance to the D1 title game, while Jefferson dominated Mosinee on Wednesday to claim a spot in the D2 title game at the WIAA State Baseball Tournament. The championship games will be played on Thursday.
Waunakee will face Arrowhead for a shot at the Warriors' first-ever state title in baseball. Waunakee fended off Eau Claire North in the quarterfinals, 12-8, and then outlasted Green Bay Preble 3-1 in 11 innings in the semifinal Tuesday night. Arrowhead edged Burlington 2-1 in their quarterfinal, and then walked off Janesville Craig in the bottom of the 7th inning with a solo home run for another 2-1 win.
Jefferson blew out Mosinee 14-2 in five innings. The Eagles won a state title in 2014.

Waunakee advances to the State tournament for the second year in a row and for the 10th time overall. The Warriors’ furthest advance in the tournament has been to the semifinals on a number of occasions and most recently in 2010. They finished tied for first place with Beaver Dam in the North Division of the Badger Conference this season, and they trounced DeForest 12-1 in five innings in the sectional final played at Middleton.

Jefferson is returning to the tournament for the first time since 2014 when the Eagles won their lone State title. They are making their sixth State appearance overall. The Eagles’ also advanced to the championship final in 1994, resulting in a runner-up finish. Their return to the State semifinals came virtue of a convincing 11-1 win over Edgerton in the Brodhead Sectional final. They are the co-champions of the Rock Valley Conference with Turner this season.
