Final day of NWL first half features a Lakeshore-Kenosha doubleheader

It's the final day of the first half of the Northwoods League season, which features a Lakeshore-Kenosha doubleheader after Monday's impressive rally by Lakeshore to beat Kenosha. Also, Madison begins a stretch of three straight home games.

Lakeshore 5, Kenosha 4 - The Lakeshore Chinooks took the lead in the seventh and defeated the Kenosha Kingfish 5-4. Lakeshore tied it in the seventh from a home run by Jim Govern (Eastern Illinois) and scored the eventual game-winner in the same inning from an RBI single by Zach Clayton (Oregon State).

Madison 4, Wisconsin Rapids 2 - The Madison Mallards held the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters to just one inning of scoring and won the game 4-2.

Willmar 12, Eau Claire 5 - The Willmar Stingers took the lead in the third with five runs which was enough to go on and defeat the Eau Claire Express 12-5.

Wisconsin Rapids (15-19, 0-0) at Madison (27-8, 0-0) - 6:05 p.m.

Standings: Won South Division First Half - 0 GB for Second Half Division Title

The Mallards return home for a three-game home stand at Warner Park.  Tuesday night at 6:05 pm they take on the Rafters.  Madison will face off for two games against Battle Creek on the July 4th holiday at 1:05 pm, and Thursday July 5 at 6:05 pm.

Standings: 2.5 GB for Wild Card - 0 GB for Second Half Division Title

The Chinooks will look to continue their successful run as they travel for Kenosha for a double-header. Konnor Ash will start the first game, with the first pitch coming at 4:05 PM. The second game will start at 7:05 PM, with Kevin Tibor getting the nod.

Eau Claire finishes the road trip tomorrow, July 3rd, in Willmar. The Express will welcome Thunder Bay to Carson Park for Independence Day on Wednesday, July 4th.
