For the 14th time, the Edgewood Crusaders are WIAA state golf champions, and for the 12th time, they did it under the direction of coach Peggy Gierhart. Edgewood won the Division 2 state golf championship at University Ridge this week.
Gierhart is happy to have the problem of finding room for all the trophies, but says that the experiences for her team are the direct result of hard work. She also notes that the poor weather conditions this fall may have played a part in the success of the Crusaders in 2018, since Edgewood had to practice at any course that would take them when some courses were closed due to rain, or even major flooding.
