Baraboo snaps 12-year-long playoff drought; plays Waunakee on Friday

For Baraboo, the great news is making the playoffs for the first time in a dozen years. The other side of the coin: taking on defending Division 2 champion Waunakee to open the postseason.

Baraboo coach Steve Turkington isn't worried about the opening draw, saying that in the playoffs, you'll have to play good football teams anyways, so why not the reigning champs? A rematch from a game only a couple weeks prior, the first meeting went decisively to Waunakee, but Turkington says that the focus then was to stay healthy for their rivalry showdown with Reedsburg in Week 9, which they won to get in to the playoffs.

Waunakee, on a 23-game winning streak, hosts Baraboo on Friday night to open the Division 2 playoffs.
