Sun Prairie, 13-1 last season and 8-1 in 2018, could win their ninth game in a row with a victory over Middleton in the first level of the Division 1 football playoffs on Friday night.
Winning streaks don't matter much in rivalry games, and especially in rivalry games that were contested only a couple of weeks prior. Sun Prairie coach Brian Kaminski, who has long said that he hopes eventually the playoff setup is amended so Big 8 teams don't have to play each other all the time in the postseason, says that the familiarity between Middleton and Sun Prairie makes it probably more challenging to prepare for, since there aren't any surprises.
