Eric Sogard's 2018 couldn't quite match his breakout 2017 campaign, and was designated for assignment on Thursday to make way for Tyler Saladino, who is returning from the DL.
Sogard had a .273 batting average in 2017, a career high, in 299 plate appearances. After spending all of 2016 in the minors, it seemed his career was back on track, but in 113 plate appearances in 2018, Sogard was batting only .134.
Saladino has only had 39 plate appearances with the Brewers this season, but hit three home runs with a .324 batting average in the 16 games he appeared in.
