Cardinals 5, Brewers 2: Milwaukee drops back-to-back games

The standings tighten up after the Brewers lost on the road in St. Louis, 5-2 to the Cardinals. The Brewers now are 4.5 games behind the Cubs in the NL Central, and only a half-game ahead of the Cardinals.

That includes the Wild Card standings, where the Brewers only half a half-game lead on St. Louis for the final wild-card opening and just a game up on Colorado and a game and a half on Los Angeles.

Eric Thames was injured in the loss for the Brewers as well.

The three-game series continues on Saturday.
