Gio Gonzalez suffered a left ankle sprain in the Brewers' loss to the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLCS, so Milwaukee replaced Gonzalez with Zach Davies. Gonzalez is not eligible for the World Series because of the move, so he is now out for the season.
The Milwaukee Brewers announced the move late Wednesday morning. Milwaukee had four pitchers traveling with the team, including Davies.
Davies has never pitched in the postseason. He missed all of June through August and hasn't pitched since September 28. In 66 innings this season, he had a 4.77 ERA, and Milwaukee was 5-8 in games that Davies started.
