Brewers trade Keon Broxton to New York Mets

Milwaukee dealt outfielder Keon Broxton to the New York Mets on Saturday for pitchers Adam Hill and Bobby Wahl and infielder Felix Valerio. Broxton played in 269 games with the Brewers the past three seasons, including a 20-homer, 21-steal season in 2017.

Broxton tweeted shortly after the trade:

"Thank you @Brewers for the love, support, and guidance through these past 3 years. It’s been my pleasure to be apart of this team. My teammates, coaches, and fans have been everything and more to my family and I. Thank you all for being such amazing humans and standing by my side"

The haul for Broxton:

  • Right-handed pitcher Adam Hill, the Mets' fourth-round draft pick a year ago. Hill pitched in nine games after he was drafted, with a 2.35 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 15.1 innings of relief work.
  • Right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl, who has appeared in 14 career games the past two seasons with the Oakland A's and the New York Mets. He's had 13 innings of major league work, all in relief, with a 6.92 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP. In 159 minor-league appearances, including 13 starts, he's thrown 221.2 innings with a 3.53 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, with 292 strikeouts. Wahl was the Mets' #28 prospect.
  • Infielder Felix Valerio, an 18-year-old who has only played in the Dominican Summer League, where he batted .319 playing mostly shortstop and second base last year.
