Jhoulys Chacin named Opening Day starter for Milwaukee Brewers

Jhoulys Chacin has been named the Opening Day starter for the Milwaukee Brewers, manager Craig Counsell announced on Thursday. It will be Chacin's third time as an Opening Day starter, for his third different team.

Chacin also started for Colorado against Milwaukee and for San Diego against Los Angeles (Dodgers) in two previous Opening Day starts.

Chacin was signed as a low-risk free agent prior to the 2018 season, and turned in one of the most consistent performances of any Brewers pitcher in 2019. He went 15-8 with a 3.50 ERA, setting career highs in games started, strikeouts, and a career-low in WHIP.
