Brewers defeat Cardinals 5-4 in thrilling Opening Day victory

Christian Yelich hit a three-run home run and Lorenzo Cain robbed St. Louis of a game-tying home run in the ninth as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cardinals on Opening Day, 5-4.

Milwaukee fell behind 3-0, but Yelich put the Brewers ahead with his third-inning blast. Milwaukee was able to withstand a pair of home runs by Kolten Wong to secure the victory.

Jhoulys Chacin pitched into the sixth inning, recording seven strikeouts. Junior Guerra recorded five outs, and Josh Hader closed out the game with a six-inning save, earning four strikeouts.

The series continues Friday night at Miller Park.
