Milwaukee fell to 37-1 when leading after seven innings, giving up a run in both the eighth and ninth innings of a 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday night at Miller Park.
Junior Guerra and Jeremy Jeffress each allowed a run to let the Pirates take the lead and the game.
Milwaukee managed just six hits in the game. Jhoulys Chacin started the game for the Brewers and went five innings with one run allowed.
The three-game series continues Saturday at Miller Park.. Brandon Woodruff will go for Milwaukee on the mound against Jordan Lyles of Pittsburgh.
