Brewers stay hot, take down Padres 3-1 on Tuesday night

Milwaukee's won 11 of their past 12 games after taking down the San Diego Padres 3-1 on Tuesday night thanks to a late home run by Mike Moustakas and a six-up, six-down pair of innings from Drew Pomeranz.

Brandon Woodruff's return lasted two innings of no-hit ball with four strikeouts. Gio Gonzalez and Brent Suter sailed through another four innings before the Padres got in the board in the seventh inning. Pomeranz closed out the game with a perfect two-inning save, striking out four.

The Brewers will make up one game in the standings on the loser of St. Louis-Washington. The Cardinals entered the day three games up in the NL Central on the Brewers. The Cubs led the Brewers by one game in the Wild Card standings, while Washington had a 1.5 game advantage when play opened up Tuesday.
