Boys basketball teams around Wisconsin advanced to Saturday's sectional finals to determine who will comprise the field for the WIAA State Tournament next week in Madison at the Kohl Center.
It's an all-Big 8 showdown in Division 1 tomorrow afternoon when Madison La Follette and Sun Prairie meet with a trip to state on the line. #4 Sun Prairie obliterated #8 Racine Horlick 73-49, while #3 La Follette knocked off #7 Waunakee 65-52. The Cardinals and Lancers will play at 1 p.m. at Waunakee tomorrow.
Division 2 saw Mount Horeb defeat DeForest for a third time this season 79-64. The Vikings will face Elkhorn, who upset top-seeded Westosha Central 49-48 on the other side of the bracket. Westosha Central defeated Elkhorn in last year's sectional playoffs on their run to state in 2018.
In Division 3, Wisconsin Dells kept their season going with a 70-64 win over Stratford. The Chiefs will face Northwestern at Marshfield tomorrow at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, Beloit Turner outlasted Edgerton 57-53, and will see top-seeded Martin Luther tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Evansville.
Division 4's area sectional final will feature an all-Capitol South contest, as New Glarus will face Belleville for the third time this season with a trip to Madison at stake. The game will be played Saturday night at Middleton.
