Waunakee volleyball racking up early-season matches, wins

Already 11 matches into their 2019 season, the Waunakee Warriors' volleyball team continues Badger Conference play Thursday night, and heads to yet another invite this weekend. The Warriors have already played (and defeated) several ranked teams in 2019.

That includes schools like Hamilton, Lake Mills, and Aquinas, and Waunakee has also played Germantown and Watertown, two more perennial powers.

Coach Anne Denkert doesn't believe in rebuilding, despite the graduation of some of her top rotational players, and says she is always looking to reload and play the best competition that the Warriors can find, especially early in the season.

On The Prep Report, Denkert tells The Big 1070 that having so many matches already completed helps paint the picture for how the team can continue to improve in 2019. With so many top-notch opponents already played, Waunakee, unranked in the first coaches' poll, can perhaps play under the radar a bit early in the year.
