WIAC Basketball Update: Games on February 11

A huge clash in men's basketball today as River Falls goes for the regular-season league title against Whitewater. Oshkosh could also clinch the women's basketball regular-season crown with a victory and a Whitewater loss.

WIAC Tournament Seeding Update

As of today, the WIAC Tournament would be (1) *River Falls 10-1, (2) *Whitewater 8-3, (3) *Oshkosh 6-5, (4) *Eau Claire 6-5, (5) *Stout 4-7, (6) *La Crosse 4-7. (6) plays at (3) and (5) plays at (4) in the opening round, with the highest seed remaining playing at (2) and the lowest seed remaining playing at (1) in the semifinals. The highest seed hosts the WIAC Championship for an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. (* indicates a team has clinched a Tournament spot).

-In Men's Basketball, Stevens Point is under a postseason ban, so they won't participate in the WIAC Tournament. However, their season results do count in tie-breaking scenarios.

Oshkosh, Eau Claire tied at 6-5

-First tiebreaker is head-to-head. Oshkosh is 2-0 against Eau Claire, so they are third seed while Eau Claire is fourth seed.

Stout, La Crosse tied at 4-7

-First tiebreaker is head-to-head. Stout is 1-0 against La Crosse, so they are fifth seed while La Crosse is sixth seed. The teams meet on Wednesday with the winning team virtually assured of the fifth seed.

Women's Basketball at Whitewater (3pm): #24 Whitewater (18-4, 8-3) will try to avoid a three-game losing streak by hosting last-place River Falls (7-15, 2-9), while the Falcons are seeking a win to stay alive in the chase for the final WIAC Tournament spot. Whitewatwer won the first contest.

Men's Basketball at Eau Claire (5pm): #RV Eau Claire (16-6, 6-5) can clinch a home WIAC Tournament spot with a win over La Crosse (12-10, 4-7), while the Eagles can try to close the gap on possibly hosting a Tournament game of their own with a victory. Eau Claire won the first meeting.

Women's Basketball at La Crosse (3pm): Both La Crosse (12-10, 6-5) and Eau Claire (12-10, 6-5) need a win to get in line for a home WIAC Tournament date. La Crosse won the earlier meeting.

Men's Basketball at Stout (3pm): Stevens Point (11-10, 5-6) has just three games remaining on its season, while Stout (13-9, 4-7) is looking to correct a recent skid and build some momentum towards the WIAC Tournament after back-to-back blowout losses to the WIAC's top two teams. Stevens Point won the earlier match-up.

Women's Basketball at Stevens Point (3pm): #RV Stevens Point (15-7, 7-4) can't wrap up a home WIAC Tournament date, but they can add a game between them and the Eau Claire-La Crosse winner. Stout (7-15, 3-8) can pick up another key win to stay up at least a game in the chase for the final WIAC Tournament spot. Stevens Point won the first game.

Men's Basketball at Oshkosh (7pm): Oshkosh (13-9, 6-5) took a step back with a loss on Wednesday after giving River Falls just their second loss of the season, but can clinch a WIAC home game with a win over last-place Platteville (8-14, 1-10). Oshkosh won the first game.

Women's Basketball at Platteville (3pm): #14 Oshkosh (20-2, 10-1) can clinch the conference with a win and a Whitewater loss today, while Platteville (6-16, 2-9) with an upset could get right back into the chase for a WIAC Tournament berth. Oshkosh won the first game.
