WIAC Tournament Seeding Update

As of today, the WIAC Tournament would be (1) *Oshkosh 11-1, (2) *Whitewater 9-3, (3) *Stevens Point 8-4, (4) *La Crosse 7-5, (5) *Eau Claire 6-6, (6) Stout 3-8. (6) plays at (3) and (5) plays at (4) in the opening round, with the highest seed remaining playing at (2) and the lowest seed remaining playing at (1) in the semifinals. The highest seed hosts the WIAC Championship for an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. (* indicates a team has clinched a Tournament spot).

Every team's final placement is still flexible with two games to play. Stout has a one-game lead on both River Falls and Platteville, but those two teams play each other on Saturday, so one of those teams will pick up at least one victory.

Men's Basketball at Whitewater (7pm): #17 Whitewater (19-4, 8-4) can clinch a first-round bye in the WIAC Tournament with a win over Oshkosh (14-9, 7-5) and an Eau Claire loss. Oshkosh, meanwhile, can put themselves in position for a first-round bye of their own with a victory. Whitewater won the first meeting.

Women's Basketball at Oshkosh (7pm): #11 Oshkosh (21-2, 11-1) wins the WIAC if they exact revenge on #RV Whitewater (19-4, 9-3), while Whitewater can win the conference if they win Wednesday night to sweep the season series and also win Saturday with an Oshkosh loss.

Men's Basketball at Eau Claire (7pm): Although #4 River Falls (21-2, 11-1) has wrapped up the regular-season title, they will look to maintain their top ranking in the central region and secure some home dates in the NCAA Tournament with a win over #RV Eau Claire (17-6, 7-5). Meanwhile, the Blugolds could take a big step towards a first-round bye--and leave no doubts about an NCAA Tournament berth--if they can take down the Falcons.

Women's Basketball at River Falls (7pm): Eau Claire (12-11, 6-6) was swept by La Crosse, so they will need to win out and hope La Crosse loses out in order to get a home WIAC Tournament game. River Falls (7-16, 2-10) could give itself a much better chance of making the WIAC Tournament field with a win, especially if Stout loses one or both of their remaining games, as they swept the Blue Devils this year.

Men's Basketball at La Crosse (7pm): Stout (13-10, 4-8) can clinch fifth place with a win over La Crosse (12-11, 4-8), while simultaneously ending their long losing streak. La Crosse has been playing better as of late and can decrease their chances of being on the River Falls side of the WIAC Tournament bracket win a win. Stout won the first match-up.

Women's Basketball at Stout (7pm): La Crosse (13-10, 7-5) clinches a home WIAC Tournament game with a win over Stout (7-16, 3-9). The Blue Devils, meanwhile, can wrap up a postseason spot with a win and a loss by River Falls.

Men's Basketball at Stevens Point (7pm): Stevens Point (12-10, 6-6) and Platteville (8-15, 1-11) play in the lone contest that does not contain any postseason implications: both teams wrap up their seasons on Saturday.

Women's Basketball at Platteville (7pm): #RV Stevens Point (16-7, 8-4) has wrapped up a home WIAC Tournament date, and with some luck could even squeeze into the top two. Platteville (6-17, 2-10) needs a win and some help to get into the chase for the final WIAC Tournament spot.
