For #sticktosports guy: Get over it.
In terms of sports though, Evansville has some fun baseball and soccer events in the warmer months, and my yard doubles year-round as a kubb pitch.
(If you don't know what kubb is, go here)
I was pretty excited to see that the place I moved to a couple years ago, when my family relocated to the greater Madison area, is set to be featured this week on Discover Wisconsin. Having grown up myself in a small town in northern Wisconsin, my wife and I wanted to find a place that was close enough to the action that it would be an easy drive to the city, but still felt like home. Evansville ended up being pretty ideal.
I don't know what the episode will feature. Most of my time in Evansville is spent finding good, cheap meals downtown and getting in the way of disc golfers in the park. Janesville, also featured, is pretty underrated as a place to go. It's on par with the city I just moved from (Eau Claire) in terms of amenities, size, and the number of redundant frontage roads (which is the only bad thing I have to say about either city). Janesville doesn't have a WIAC institution in town, but UW-Whitewater is a short drive away.
The feature is slated to air on February 18.
