HS Basketball: Edgewood, Beaver Dam win state girl's titles; area boy's teams clinch state berths

Congratulations to the Edgewood Crusaders girl's basketball team. They win the Division 3 state title, 51-30 over Martin Luther.

After making it to state last year, losing in the semifinals, the Crusaders took home the gold this year.

Congratulations as well to Beaver Dam, which wrapped up an undefeated season, 28-0, as they cruised past Monroe and Cudahy on their way to a perfect season.

It's Beaver Dam's first state title in three tries.

HS Basketball: Madison Memorial punches its ticket to state, winning 50-35 over Madison East

In boy's basketball, Madison Memorial advanced to state for the tenth time in program history, all since 2004. The Spartans look for their fourth state title. They defeated Madison East 50-35.

Memorial will face Stevens Point in the semifinals. SPASH is the two-time defending D1 state champion.

In Division 2, Waunakee advances to state for the second straight year, hoping to improve upon their runner-up finish last season. They'll play La Crosse Central for the second time this year, looking to avenge a regular-season loss to the (Wisconsin recruit) Kobe King-led squad. Waunakee is seeking its first-ever state boy's basketball title.

Division 3 will feature a first-time attendee in the boy's basketball field. Lake Mills, which survived a double-overtime battle against Beloit Turner in the sectional semifinal, nailed a three with just 3 seconds remaining to advance to state for the first time in school history. They'll face seven-foot Northern Illinois recruit Owen Hamilton and Prescott in the state semifinal on Thursday afternoon.

In Division 5, Barneveld returns to state for the second time in school history, and their first since... last year, when they were one and done. They'll take on Marshfield Columbus in a semifinal Thursday morning.
