Re-writing the NFL's catch rule

The NFL is reportedly revisiting its complicated catch rules, but Mike Heller has a time-saving, cost-effective solution to make the catch rule easier to understand and call on the field.

1. Possession of the ball with two feet in bounds: going out of bounds or breaking the plane ends the play. It is a catch.

2. In the field of play, possession of the ball, and two steps is a catch.

3. If it looks like a catch, it is a catch.

NO surviving the ground, or completing the process, similar to how the ground cannot cause a fumble on a running play.
